With Kilmer’s renewed focus on making private equity and brownfield investments for its own account, and the expiration of the investment period for new portfolio opportunities at both Kilmer Capital and Kilmer Brownfield, the mandate of each team is to now evaluate new opportunities for investment directly by Kilmer.

Kilmer Capital Fund I and II

Kilmer Capital Fund I and II were private equity investment funds sponsored by Kilmer with a mandate to invest equity capital in small and mid-market companies seeking financing for expansion, acquisitions, management buyouts, leveraged buyouts, restructurings, recapitalizations and privatizations. Headquartered in the Kilmer office in Toronto, the Funds were solely managing portfolios with a single focus on maximizing returns through liquidity events and returning capital to its investors.
Investment Approach – Private Equity

Kilmer Brownfield Equity Fund

The Kilmer Brownfield Equity Fund is the first private equity fund in Canada dedicated exclusively to the redevelopment of brownfields. The $92 million fund invests on behalf of both institutional and private investors. The Fund acquires and redevelops qualifying brownfield sites. The redevelopment process consists of the remediation of the site and often the rezoning to a higher-and-better end land use. When the redevelopment is completed, the restored site is sold to an end-user, who will complete the development process through the vertical build-out of the site. The Fund had been targeting investments in the $5 million to $15 million range.
